Starting June 25, 2025, overnight parking will cost $3.00 an hour at the Public Parking Garage at the intersection of Millward and Simpson. Overnight parking will be charged from 12:00am to 4:00am. Parking at the garage will continue to be FREE all day.
Anyone parking in the garage will be required to get a ticket, but only cars parked overnight will be charged. Customers will pay by credit card at exit stations by inserting entry tickets into the exit lane kiosk. The current fees of $3.00 an hour and up-to $12 to park overnight is a pilot rate.
The Parking Garage will close next Monday, June 23 at 10:00am for cleaning, re-striping, and installation of the arm bar and ticketing system. All vehicles must vacate the garage by 10:00am on June 23, and barricades will be placed at entrance and exit stations. The garage will re-open on Wednesday June 25 at 3:00pm with an arm bar and ticketing system.
These changes are intended to deter unauthorized uses of the parking garage to, ideally, help ensure it is available for locals, workforce, visitors, and customers of businesses in Town. The Town and Police Department have been dealing with enforcement and sanitary issues in the garage. It was being used as storage for commercial vehicles when commercial use is not permitted and misused for overnight camping.
