The Federal Aviation Administration awarded more than $431.8-million in grants to airports across the United States, including a grant for $5,525,157 to the Jackson Hole Airport for reconstruction of the runway next year. That project will require a 78-day runway closure during April, May and June. The last time the runway was fully reconstructed was in the 1970’s. Since then, the asphalt runway has been rehabbed four times, so it is due for a total reconstruction in the spring of 2022. Altogether, the funding announced yesterday from the final round of Fiscal Year 2021 Airport Improvement Program grants intended to build safer, more sustainable and more accessible airport facilities will pay for projects at 60 airports in 31 states plus Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
