Jury Duty Scam Hits Local Telephones

The Jackson Police Department has received a number of calls reporting a telephone jury duty scam.
The department says a male subject calling himself John Mack, among other names, has phoned local residents posing as a Teton County Sheriff’s Office Deputy. He tells residents that they have missed scheduled jury duty assignment and that there has been a warrant issued for their arrest. The caller then demands payment in the form of electronic gift cards.

Police remind residents that the court does not conduct business in this manner and would never demand payment over the phone or via gift cards. They say to hang up on this scammer and do not divulge personal information.

The court can issue an arrest warrant for missing jury duty and the court may attempt to reach you via telephone.

If your not sure if you may have missed jury duty , contact  the court and they will tell you if a warrant has been issued.
