Jackson Hole Fire/EMS has collaborated with Teton County School District to begin training this year’s freshmen in the education and knowledge necessary to administer Hands-Only CPR. By the end of the spring semester, every freshman will have completed Hands-Only CPR. Fire Inspector and Community Risk Reduction specialist Bobbi Clauson points out that these freshmen are the first Wyoming students to begin this program. Students are being given the training to provide Hands-only CPR and to use an automatic external defibrillator. The training does not require rescue breathing which allows action without the fear of using one’s mouth and contracting a communicable disease. Clauson explains the objective of the program is to give students the training and confidence to know what to do if they witness a cardiac event.
