Security screening operations at Jackson Hole Airport have not been affected during the government shutdown. That’s because the screening of outgoing passengers and baggage here is performed by screeners employed by the Jackson Hole Airport Board under a contract with the Transportation Security Administration; or TSA. Airport officials assure that even though Jackson Hole Airport is not receiving reimbursement payments from the TSA at this time due to the shutdown, the screeners continue to be paid out of funds from the Airport Board – and the board has sufficient funds on hand to continue paying the screener salaries for the foreseeable future. Then, under federal law, TSA will reimburse the board when the shutdown ends. That doesn’t mean there won’t be delays in flights due to problems at other airports, and travelers are encouraged to monitor their arrangements through the websites of the individual airlines.
