As of this month, Lower Valley Energy is restoring the ability to use American Express for customers to pay bills. In 2016 LVE stopped taking American Express payments to save money. At that time, American Express was significantly higher in fees than the other credit cards being accepted. However, in the interest of customer service LVE continued investigating cost-effective ways to possibly bring back American Express. Through their cooperative network, they found a way while still keeping costs down. In a recent press release, LVE explained that while keeping rates for safe and reliable electricity and gas down is a priority, they viewed restoring the credit card company part of providing good customer service.
