Wyoming US Senator Cynthia Lummis paid tribute Tuesday on the Senate floor to Leland Christensen, who passed away on February 4th and whose memory will be honored with a memorial service February 26th. Leland served the people of Wyoming as a sheriff, County Commissioner, State Senator, and, most recently, Lummis Recalled, as her State Director.
“I can honestly say I never worried about whether my team was taking care of my constituents in Wyoming because I always knew that Leland was watching. He always made sure that anyone who needed help with a federal agency was assisted and that our team was doing everything possible to help them resolve their problems.”
Lummis told the Senate, “Words cannot truly convey the loss that we as a team feel since Leland passed away.” The 62-year-old former legislator caught COVID-19, but was fighting pneumonia and complications from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and chemotherapy, and died of complications from the medical maladies he was facing.
