A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled Friday for the reopening of the newly-renovated Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel in Yellowstone National Park. The National Park Service recently completed the extensive renovation of the hotel in partnership with Xanterra Travel Collection in a manner intended to preserve the historic look and feel of this important art moderne structure, one of the few in the NPS. The work emphasized bringing sustainability and reducing the carbon footprint, utilities, accessibility, and seismic standards by bringing these concerns up to code. Additionally, highly trained NPS restoration specialists carefully rehabilitated Robert Reamer’s famous wooden map in the Map Room. Funded by the NPS, the four-year renovation of the historic Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel totaled about $30 million. The ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:00 am will be followed by tours through the hotel beginning at 11:00 am.
