Teton County Search and Rescue had a busy weekend with two rescues in as many days.
At 1:30 pm Saturday, a 60-year-old Massachusetts man was involved in a horseback accident near Nolan Peak in the Cache Creek drainage suffering a back-injury and possible internal injury. The accident occurred in an area where the rescue helicopter could not access, and rescue team members had to make a three to four-hour hike in to the site. Search and Rescue Advisor Cody Lockhart says they brought him to a landing zone from where the helicopter could bring the man out. There was no immediate word on the man’s condition.
At about 11:30 am on Friday, a 40-year-old Chicago woman stepped off a trail just off Fall Creek Road and broke her ankle. Lockhart says the accident occurred a short distance from the trailhead and team members were able to quickly hike in and bring her by wheeled litter to a waiting ambulance.
