The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department responded to a shooting in Star Valley shortly after midnight Wednesday morning. According to a news release from the department, their dispatch center received a 911 call that a man had been shot at the Branding Iron Trailer Court in Etna.
Wyoming Highway Patrol Troopers, Division of Criminal Investigation Agents, and EMS were immediately dispatched to the location. Upon arrival, officers discovered the suspected shooter was still inside the trailer of the victim and refused to come out. After a brief standoff, officers gained entry to the trailer and took an adult female named Leanne Gardner into custody.
They learned that the gun had been discharged during a physical altercation. The news release says a male victim received minor injuries, but not from the gunshot. Gardner was jailed for suspicion of aggravated assault and battery, aggravated burglary and the use of a controlled substance. Official charges are pending further investigation.
