Since the Center for Disease Control and Prevention has updated its mask-wearing guidance for individuals who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, there has been confusion over just what it means.
According to the updated guidance, individuals who are fully vaccinated can resume activities without wearing a mask or physical distancing except where masks or distancing are required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, regulations, and orders including local business and workplace policies.
As a reminder, people are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their second dose in a two-dose series, or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine. Those who are not yet fully vaccinated should continue to protect themselves and others by continuing to wear a mask indoors and in crowded outdoor settings.
It is also recommended that individuals who are immunocompromised consult with their doctor about mask use. Everyone, even vaccinated individuals, should wear face masks and physically distance when going to doctors’ offices, hospitals, or long-term care facilities such as assisted living centers and nursing homes.
In Wyoming, mask use and physical distancing is also required at educational institutions. Additionally, the mask mandate is still in effect in federal locations including the airport.
