Approximately 400 people from throughout the area attended Saturday’s celebration of life for slain Marine Lance Corporal Rylee McCollum, including Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon, US Senator John Barrasso and dozens of fellow Marines – some of whom were from the unit in which he was serving when he died. The McCollum family invited anyone to come to the service which was held at the Gill Ranch just off of South Park Loop Road. The 20-year-old Jackson native wad been killed by a suicide bomber when he was manning a checkpoint in Afghanistan where he was helping the evacuation efforts on August 26th. Senator Barrasso commented, “Rylee McCollum’s life demonstrated the best of our nation.,” and Governor Gordon told those in attendance, “Wyoming hurts today. We lost a good one.”
