A 24-year-old Minnesota man died yesterday after the snowmobile he was riding rolled over on top of him as he was traversing a side hill on Togwotee Pass.
According to Chief Search and Rescue Advisor Cody Lockhart, the man was in a group of private snowmobilers who were traveling off-trail when the accident occurred.
The search and rescue team responded shortly before 10:30 am with their helicopter and a ground team, and the Life Flight helicopter out of Idaho responded as well since the initial call indicate injuries were serious.
Teton County Coroner Dr. Brent Blue identified the victim as Jonah Kletsch, of Barnesville, Minnesota.
Lockhart says the call to the Togwotee incident just as the team was finishing a short-haul rescue at The Claw on Teton Pass, where a local man described as in his 20s had gone over a cliff.
Lockhart says this has already been a busy week for TCSAR with one rescue Monday, three Tuesday and the one yesterday plus the recovery of the deceased from Togwotee Pass.
