Weather conditions made for limited visibility in Kemmerer and caused a leaderboard shakeup that was a direct result of more than one team mistaking a snowmobile track for the real trail. Jeff Conn and Bruce Magnusson both lost valuable time after bogging down in deep snow on what they thought was the race trail. What they were actually following was a snowmachine track made by four sledders in the area that morning. By the time Conn and Magnusson got it figured out, they lost some 20 minutes or more and dropped precious spots in the overall standings. They did, however, manage to warn Lina Streeper before she, too, fell into the trap. At the end of the 34-mile run, it was again Anny Malo in the lead, followed by Streeper. Bondurant’s Alix Crittenden turned in another solid run to move up to 3rd overall, followed by Rachel Courtney in 4th. The mushers head to Big Piney/Marbleton for the 4th leg on Tuesday.
