
A fire on the Montana/Wyoming border north of Cody is roaring toward the Cowboy State. Fire officials are now estimating the Robertson Draw fire south of Red Lodge on the Custer Gallatin National Forest to be 27,556 acres, and 0 percent contained.
Montana’s firefighting aircraft returned to duty Friday as officials sought even more personnel and aircraft ahead of a shift in the weather that could stir up a large blaze on the Wyoming border.
A red flag warning — indicating critical fire weather conditions — was issued for areas in southern Montana and northern Wyoming. Dry and unusually warm weather, accompanied by gusts, was predicted. This fire was caused by lightning on June 8th.
