The Teton County Sheriff’s Office received numerous calls over the weekend regarding approximately five to six moose near the Aspens subdivision and around Highway 390. Because of the record-breaking snow storms, the moose in this area are using pathways and roadways for easier travel while in search for forage. Sheriff’s officials and Wyoming Game and Fish officers urge residents and visitors to please give these animals a lot of space, and exercise caution when walking in areas where there are large snow banks since moose often charge when startled. Also be on the alert while walking along the pathways as they may be just around the corner. Sheriff’s officials also urge motorists to be vigilant when driving in the area. Follow the posted speed limits day and night, and if you spot an injured moose, contact the Wyoming Game & Fish Department – Jackson Office.
