It was a wild weekend on ice as the Moose secured two victories over the Stowe Slugs, and fans were treated to plenty of goals. Friday’s affair began slowly. Both teams found little open ice to work with. With Moose goalie Nick Krauss holding the fort until his teammates could find their skating legs, the Moose were able to finally get a 6-3 win with Krauss stopping 44 of the 47 shots he faced.
Saturday’s shootout was a result of two backup goalies in net and both teams abandoning defense. The Moose spotted the Slugs 4 goals before the 1st period was even half over, but Jackson came roaring back on the strength of a Jason Reese hattrick. The 2nd period was just as wild and both teams took the ice for the final frame deadlocked at 8 goals apiece.
The Moose finally outlasted Stowe for a 12-9 win. Reese finished the game with 5 goals. AJ Sanders had an 8-point night with 2 goals and 6 assists.
