New roadside pull-outs are in store for the northern portion of the Moose Wilson Road beginning this fall. Construction of the initial pull-out is set for the area south of Sawmill Ponds and will require the closure of that section of road beginning October 22nd. Based on this initial pull-out, additional pullouts are planned throughout the corridor to reduce off-road parking and impacts to vegetation, improve traffic flow and safety, and improve opportunities to stop and enjoy the area. This first prototype pullout will allow park and Federal Highway architects and engineers to finalize details including the look and feel of these pullouts, safety features, size, and functionality. During the construction, access to Death Canyon Trailhead, Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve Center trailheads and Granite Canyon Trailhead will be from the south, via the Granite Entrance Station. Seasonal closure of the entire road is set for the end of the month.
