Four more women were added to the Wyoming State legislature this election cycle. There are now twenty female representatives out of a total 93 legislators with nearly half being elected in their first term.
Although this is good news for the state, Wyoming still lies below the rest of the nation in terms of gender representation in legislature. It’s among the bottom 10 states with the lowest percentages of female legislators. Nevada, Colorado, Oregon, and Rhode Island lead the nation with an almost equal ratio of men to women. West Virginia, Tennessee, and Mississippi all lag behind as some of the most male dominated legislatures.
