The Jackson Police Department and Teton County Sheriff’s Office yesterday provided mutual-aid assistance to the United States Drug Enforcement Administration in serving arrest and search warrants on a Jackson area resident.
According to Police Chief Todd Smith, this arrest was the result of a long-term joint investigation between the Jackson Police Department, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the Albany New York Sheriff’s Office, and the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, spanning over a period of 4 years and multiple states and jurisdictions.
The investigation also involved the use of under-cover operations combined with hundreds of hours of manpower. The criminal investigation primarily focused on the trafficking in illicit drugs across state lines, money laundering, and tax evasion.
No further details – including the names of those arrested – are being released at this time due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.
