There is a new wildfire on the Bridger-Teton National Forest. This one is on a ridge in the upper Coburn Creek area in the Jackson Ranger District; and was plainly visible from the valley floor yesterday afternoon. The Coburn Fire is at 9,000 feet, 1½-mile east of Observation Peak. Currently, the fire is estimated at ¾-acre. The Coburn fire was first reported at 12:30 yesterday afternnon and is burning in timber and brush, with some tree torching and spotting into adjacent timber. Firefighting efforts include a helicopter with four firefighters, and eight smoke jumpers from West Yellowstone. Firefighters crews have successfully dug fire line around the whole perimeter and will continue to suppress the fire until it is cold and dead out. The fire has been determined to be human caused.
