Soaring to Safety: Teton County’s Year-Round Rescue Helicopter Takes Flight
In Teton County, Wyoming, where rugged terrain and unpredictable weather pose unique challenges, a recent arrival to town promises to be a lifeline for those in need. Teton County Search & Rescue has unveiled its year-round rescue helicopter, marking a historic milestone in the region’s emergency response capabilities.
Mission Critical: A Community’s Dedication
Volunteers raised a remarkable $7.25 million in just nine months through the TCSAR capital campaign aptly named “Mission Critical.” This iwas made possible by private donations from the community, displaying a commitment of Teton County residents to their safety and well-being.
A Helicopter, A Lifesaver
On October 14, 2023, the year-round rescue helicopter, an H125 aircraft, touched down in Teton County. Originally built by Airbus and meticulously customized by Kansas-based EuroTec, this aircraft is more than just a machine; it’s a lifeline.

TCSAR Chief Advisor Cody Lockhart said, “Having a rescue-ready helicopter year-round can be the difference between life or death for locals and visitors alike.” The demands on TCSAR are substantial, with high volumes of rescue calls from within and outside the county. This helicopter ensures that help is never too far away, regardless of the season or the challenging conditions.
EuroTec: Masters of Modification
The expertise of EuroTec in helicopter modifications was instrumental in creating a machine fit for the rugged Wyoming terrain. Working closely with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), they equipped the H125 with features like an Enhanced Vision System, cargo hooks, avionics upgrades, and a custom paint scheme inspired by TCSAR’s logo. The result is a state-of-the-art aircraft ready for the toughest Search & Rescue missions.
Community Partnership in Action
TCSAR Foundation, the nonprofit supporting TCSAR volunteers, handed over the helicopter to Teton County, which now owns and operates it through the Sheriff’s Office. This is partnership between the TCSAR Foundation, Sheriff’s Office, and Teton County. TCSAR consists of 39 dedicated volunteers who are on call 24/7, 365 days a year.
