Starting the evening of September 4, 2024, the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) and Evans Construction will begin milling and paving operations on sections of US 89/191 through the Town of Jackson. The nighttime milling work will take place from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. and is expected to last approximately two weeks. The affected areas include the asphalt sections of the highway from High School Road to the 5-way intersection at Flat Creek Drive and Pearl Avenue near Wendy’s, as well as a small section on Wyoming State Highway 22 near the Y intersection of US 89 and WYO 22.
During the milling operations, crews will ensure that drivers can access businesses within the work zone. Following the milling, paving of the milled roadway sections is tentatively scheduled to begin on September 23. This work will occur during the day from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. WYDOT and the contractor will aim to maintain two-way traffic and business access during the paving to minimize delays and congestion.
The project is scheduled during this period to avoid peak summer traffic and to meet the necessary paving temperature requirements. The work is expected to be completed by October 11.
In addition to the milling and paving, WYDOT traffic crews will be working on September 4 to replace pedestrian crossing signs at the intersection of US 89/191 and WYO 22, known as the Y intersection. This work is not expected to significantly impact traffic, though there may be brief closures of the free right turn lane near Albertsons.
Drivers are urged to be cautious in construction areas, adhere to reduced speed limits, and expect possible delays. WYDOT encourages drivers to sign up for 511 Notify alerts at https://www.wyoroad.info/511/511NotifyAnnouncement.html for updates on traffic and construction activities.
