No charges in hunting death

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department says no charges have been filed in connection with a hunting accident that claimed the life of a man near Cokeville. According to the investigators’ report, officers responded to a request for aid on October 16th after a young man accidentally shot his father through the accidental discharge of his firearm. The report goes on that the firearm safety apparently had not been properly engaged. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and the Lincoln County Attorney’s Office have reviewed the case and determined under the circumstances; no criminal charges are appropriate. The names of the hunters involved have not been released due to the age of the young man and the sensitive nature of the incident.
