A Jackson police officer was recognized this week for being an exceptional example of law enforcement and leadership during Tuesday’s Jackson Town Council Meeting. Mayor Pete Muldoon presented Officer Phillip Smith with the Jackson Police Department Medal of Merit, which Police Chief Todd Smith noted has only ever been presented to an officer about ten times. Chief Smith also noted the Officer Phillip Smith has focused his service as an officer on doing the best job possible in spite having lost his home in the Roosevelt Fire. Chief Smith says Officer Smith was also voted by his peers in the department as the officer of 2018. Chief Smith says there is no question that Phillip is deserving of the award he has received.
