A Columbia, Missouri Public Schools bus was involved in a crash with a motorcycle Friday while on an educational trip to Yellowstone and the Tetons. The motorcyclist was killed in the crash.
A Facebook post on the CPS Grand Teton Trip page reports none of the 100 middle-school students, staff and drivers on the bus were injured. The post says the bus was one of two traveling southbound near The Rim, when the motorcycle was traveling northbound passing cars on a curve when it hit the bus head-on.
Both busses filled with the students were on the scene for over two hours and were then transported to Pinedale to await a substitute bus to take them home. Pinedale Visitor Center Volunteers secured donations from Ridley’s Grocery Store for drinks and snacks.
Old Stones provided pizzas as fast as they could and fed the kids at the park and the Pinedale Aquatic Center then opened its doors to the kids for the evening until the bus arrived.
No information regarding the identity of the deceased motorcyclist was available.
