Caribou-Targhee National Forest has announced that major improvements to one of the main access roads to the Palisade’s west side will mean road closures over the next two months.
The road closure is being imposed on Gravel Flats Road from the Snake River Bridge to Calamity Road, and from there to the Calamity Boat Ramp on Palisades Reservoir on weekdays from now until September sixth.
The work is intended to improve access to the recreational facilities there. Construction is to include a 12-inch thick, full depth reclamation of the existing roadway with cement, a pavement structure with 2.5 inches of asphalt pavement, installation of new culverts, permanent signage and striping.
The closures will take place from 7:00 am until 6:00 pm Monday through Thursday, and from 7:00 am until noon on Friday. The road will remain open through the weekends.
