Five male bison from Yellowstone National Park are to be transferred to native American tribes at Fort Peck, but negotiations are still underway to make that transfer possible. The five animals have been deemed brucellosis-free, clearing the way for the transfer. The five bison are actually part of a group of about 60 bison that are quarantined at the Corwin Springs facility operated by the US Department of Agriculture’s Animal Plant and Health Inspection Service, and are separate from 99 being held by Yellowstone National Park at the Stephens Creek Capture Facility outside Gardiner Montana.
