Yellowstone National Park will be conducting a sizable control burn just northwest of Gardiner yet this week. The burn site is located about a mile east of Stephens Creek. The park’s fire staff is planning a one-day burn of 16 acres to eliminate nonnative wheatgrass and desert alyssum that are impeding the growth of native vegetation there. Smoke from the control burn will be visible for about three to six hours after ignition.
