Final 2020 statistics from Yellowstone National Park show the park hosted 3,806,305 recreational visits in 2020, down only 5% from 2019.
The park was closed due to health and safety reasons related to COVID-19 beginning March 24thand reopened in May. Two Wyoming entrances opened on May 18th and three Montana entrances opened on June 1st. All five entrances have been open since June 1st. Still, that attendance was the 6th highest since Yellowstone has been keeping records.
Grand Teton National Park reports 3,289,639 recreational visits in 2020, down 3.4% from last year. Like Yellowstone, Grand Teton was closed due to health and safety reasons related to COVID-19 beginning March 24, reopening on May 18th.
