Plans for avalanche mitigation work on Teton Pass have been put into place for today. The preparations began with a parking ban anywhere on the pass from the state line to Wilson which began last night. Even as snowfall continues today, highway crews will close the pass at 2:00 pm today for avalanche mitigation work. That doesn’t mean an earlier closure isn’t possible if avalanche conditions dictate. The Wyoming Department of Transportation advises that winter storm conditions will create hazardous travel conditions over the next two or three days in the area, and additional highway closures may become necessary.
