Paving and Striping Work Nears Completion on US 26/89 Broadway in Jackson

October 2, 2024 by Jackson Hole Radio

Jackson Traffic

The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) and Evans Construction have finished paving the northbound inside lane and the center turn lane on US 26/89 Broadway. Tomorrow, crews will focus on completing the paving of the northbound outside lane between the Y intersection and the Flat Creek Bridge. This work is expected to be finished by the end of the day tomorrow, potentially ahead of schedule.

Paving operations will occur from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and drivers should anticipate heavy traffic congestion during this time. WYDOT encourages drivers to plan their travel accordingly.

After the paving is completed, WYDOT crews will begin striping the newly paved surface starting tomorrow evening, October 3rd. The striping will cover US 26/89 Broadway from High School Road to the Flat Creek Bridge, along with a short section of WYO 22 near the Y intersection. Striping will take place between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. and is expected to be completed the same night.

WYDOT reminds drivers to be cautious around striping trucks, which move slowly and travel with a shadow vehicle. Drivers should avoid following too closely and pass only when it is safe. Driving over wet paint can reduce the visibility of road markings and may cause paint to stick to your vehicle. If this happens, WYDOT provides recommendations for removing paint, such as using a car wash or applying WD-40 or petroleum jelly.
