After being challenged by Lina Streeper Tuesday in Big Piney, Pedigree Stage Stop race leader Anny Malo pushed back in a big way in Lander Wednesday, reclaiming possession of the yellow bib and extending her overall lead to more than 4 and a half minutes over 2nd place Streeper. Conditions were near perfect, allowing Malo to average almost 15 mph as she barreled over South Pass and on past Louis Lake, turning in a time of 2:22:33 for the 35-mile leg. Alix Crittenden continues to hold down 3rd place, more than 45 minutes off the leader’s pace. Rachel Courtney and Jeff Conn round out the top 5. Racers have a day off Thursday as they travel to Driggs and prepare for a final 2 legs in winter storm warning conditions. Hold on to your toques, it’s gonna be a wild finish.
