Teton County Coroner Dr Brent Blue confirmed the identity of remains found this weekend in Spread Creek as belonging to Gabby Petito. Blue also said the initial determination of the cause of death was homicide.
The FBI reported Blue’s findings on the 22-year-old Petito while they continued their search for her fiancé Brian Laundrie who has been named a person of interest in the case.
Petito had been traveling to a variety of national parks in Colorado, Utah and Wyoming with Laundrie, camping in their converted van along the way. Petito was reported missing September 11.
Her remains were discovered near Spread Creek dispersed camping area on Sunday.
