A fire involving a private aircraft at Jackson Hole Airport caused a fair amount of excitement Tuesday at the airport’s general aviation ramp. At approximately 12:19 pm, the airport tower was notified by a pilot that another private aircraft nearby had an engine fire. Personnel from Jackson Hole Aviation responded and put out the fire with fire extinguishers. Jackson Hole Airport’s Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting personnel were also notified and responded to ensure that the fire did not reignite or spread. After 45 minutes of surveillance the fire was considered dormant and the crew returned to the fire house. There were no injuries during this incident and commercial operations were not interrupted. There is no immediate estimate of damage suffered by the plane.
