The US Postal Service (USPS) has released a progress report on its 10-year plan called Delivering for America (DFA). The plan is designed to help the organization return to financial sustainability, maintain six-day mail delivery, and expand seven-day package delivery.
Two years into the plan, USPS has already achieved several milestones, including reducing projected losses for the decade from $160 billion to $70 billion, increasing its workforce by converting 125,000 pre-career workers to full-time career employees, and improving service reliability.
The organization is also modernizing its delivery and processing network by constructing new sorting and delivery centers and regional processing and distribution centers across the country, increasing daily package processing capacity to 60 million, and updating its fleet with electric vehicles.
The progress made in the first two years shows that the plan is realistic and achievable. USPS is committed to becoming a self-sustaining, high-performing organization that provides excellent service to the nation.
