49 teams participated in this year’s Karen Oatley Pole Peddle Paddle competition Saturday. According to the results posted, Team E Captained by Lucy Wirth took first place, followed by the PPP-Funk Allstars and Plus or Minus Sixty in third place.
Due to the weather conditions, the traditional Nordic leg of the race was eliminated this year. First place in the fun class went to Surfin’ USA followed by Arlo’s Angels in second place.
The PPP traditionally concludes with a large community celebration at the finish, but due to Covid-19, this year’s event primarily focused on racing.
However, last year, the event was canceled entirely due to the COVID pandemic. Since 1975 the Rendezvous River Sports Karen Oatey Pole Pedal Paddle has served as the annual kickoff to spring in Jackson Hole.
