Results are in for Tuesday’s Primary Election in Teton County after a brisk voter turnout.
While Congresswoman Liz Cheney lost her race for reelection on a statewide vote, she did well in Teton County with the assist of a large number of Democrats who crossed party lines to cast a ballot for her.
Cheney was defeated by attorney Harriet Hageman who was endorsed by Former President Donald Trump.
Hageman will go on to face Lynnette GreyBull who won the statewide Democratic primary.
For Wyoming’s Secretary of State, it was a hotly contested race between Tara Nethercott and Chuck Gray. After the votes were tallied, Gray was selected to be the Republican nominee. Gray had received the endorsement of Former President Trump.
Seeking reelection, Governor Mark Gordon easily won his bid to be the Republican nominee for governor. He will run against Theresa A. Livingston in the General Election.
Megan Degenfelder defeated Trump-backed Brian Schroeder in the Republican primary for Superintendent of Public instruction.
She will run against Democrat Sergio A. Maldonado, Sr in November.
In the race for Jackson Town Council, four candidates moved forward to be on the November ballot for two seats.
Devon Viehman, Arne Jorgensen, Jonathan Schechter, and Katherine “Kat” Rueckert all made the cut.
In the partisan primary race for three seats on the Teton County Board of Commissioners, Peter Long, Tom Segerstrom and Kasey Mateosky are the Republican winners of the primary.
Incumbent commissioners Luther Probst and Mark Newcomb were uncontested Democrats running in the primary.
Two other contested races include the Teton County Assessor where incumbent Democrat Mel Shinkle bested Zane Aukee.
For the position of Clerk of District Court, Anne Comeaux Sutton will retain her position.
For Teton County’s House District 23, Democrat Liz Storer will face Republican Paul Vogelheim in the general election.
