It was a fortunate end to a potentially very volatile situation late Monday afternoon. A major remodel job on a house in Indian Paintbrush subdivision required some heat to facilitate curing of construction materials. In setting up the heater, Jackson Hole Fire Marshal Kathy Clay says the propane cannister tipped over causing it to vent propane which quickly ignited. The flame was aimed at the wood structure and efforts by the construction workers to control the fire with an extinguisher were unsuccessful. Clay says a team of three from Station 6 responded, cooled the gas cylinder and put out the fire. In spite of the situation, Clay says damage was limited.
