The Bridger-Teton National Forest is currently inviting public feedback on the redesign of the Cache Creek Trailhead, a key recreational starting point near Jackson. This initiative aims to revamp the trailhead to better manage the high visitor traffic and enhance the area’s environmental sustainability.
Cache Creek Trailhead serves as a gateway to a variety of outdoor activities including hiking, biking, and Nordic skiing among others. It is also crucial for the local ecosystem and Cache Creek waterway.

Increasing Popularity
Given its popularity and proximity to Jackson, the current facilities are inadequate for the volume of visitors it attracts, which has prompted the need for a redesign. The Forest Service, in collaboration with local stakeholders and a landscape architecture firm, has developed a preliminary plan which seeks to improve parking, infrastructure, and trail conditions. The goal is to make the trailhead more accessible and enjoyable while minimizing environmental impact.
The redesign plan also includes enhancing educational efforts by forest staff and volunteers to promote responsible use of the area and strengthen the community’s connection with the natural landscape.
Public Input Wanted
Public comments are essential to this phase of the project to ensure that the redesign meets community and environmental needs. Feedback can be submitted through various channels until May 21, 2024. Details for comment submission can be found on the Forest Service project page.
The community’s involvement in shaping the future of the Cache Creek Trailhead is highly valued, and all interested parties are encouraged to participate in the consultation process.
