The Town of Jackson and Teton County will host two informational public open houses prior to the upcoming general election.
The open houses will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2018, and Thursday, November 1, 2018, at the Teton County Library (125 Virginian Lane) from 5:30-8:00pm in the Ordway Auditorium.
Teton County and Town of Jackson representatives will be in attendance to answer questions and discuss how Lodging Tax revenue is utilized in County and Town budgets, with a general focus on Parks & Recreation, Fire/EMS, START Bus, and Community Pathways.
The open houses will be drop-in format, with no formal program or presentation. Educational brochures will be available for all attendees.
“We want to provide opportunities for citizens to understand how the County utilizes Lodging Tax funding, and we feel that it is important to provide access to County representatives that can provide details related to Lodging Tax budgets,” said Alyssa Watkins, Teton County Commissioners’ Administrator. “The County’s duty is to provide transparent, educational information about these revenues and expenditures, and we’re committed to doing that.”
Town of Jackson Manager, Larry Pardee, added, “Since 2010 the Lodging Tax has been a source of revenue for our organization. These open houses will be a wonderful opportunity for community members to learn more about how these funds are used at the local level.”
In addition to the public open houses, the Lodging Tax website (www.4jacksonhole.org) provides additional information, including this whiteboard video highlighting the function and uses of the Lodging Tax.
All registered Teton County voters will have the opportunity to cast their ballot either for or against the renewal of the Lodging Tax in the general election being held on November 6, 2018.
