The Teton County Department of Planning and Building Services has released a public draft of the updated Natural Resources Overlay (NRO) map and corresponding Land Development Regulations (LDRs), known collectively as the Natural Resource Protection Land Development Regulations. This release, dated September 5, 2024, marks a significant step in the long-standing project aimed at refining environmental regulations within the county.
The NRO, which delineates environmental constraints on development based on different tiers (base, mid, and high), guides the process for development applications. The updated draft reflects changes designed to enhance the protection of natural resources in the county and streamline the development application process.
Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to participate in the review process by visiting the Joint Long Range Planning website at jacksontetonplan.com. Here, the draft documents are available for public comment until the Planning Commission’s public hearing scheduled for October 14, 2024, at 6 p.m. This hearing will be held at the County Administration Building in Jackson, located at 200 South Willow Street, and will also be accessible via Zoom.
The public hearing process is expected to continue through November, with the Board of County Commissioners slated to discuss the regulations during their regular meeting on November 19, 2024. Further details about this meeting can be found on the Board’s agendas page on the county website.
