Grand Teton National Park was swamped with rescues through the day on Friday. According to Park Public Affairs Office Denise Germann, there were four missions throughout the day. They included park rangers responding to a report of a capsized party on the Snake River. All occupants were accounted for.
Germann points out that the river is running quite high right now due to releases from the dam, and extreme caution is advised. In another incident, a 74-year-old man wandered off trail and got stuck on a steep spot. Park rangers made contact with the party and helped him down.
Park rangers were summoned by an InReach SOS signal regarding a hiker with an injury in Granite Creek. The hiker was short hauled to the rescue cache and transported to St. John’s by park ambulance.
Finally, park rangers responded to a 37 -year-old man who was experiencing apparent altitude sickness at Paintbrush Divide. The patient was flown out and refused ambulance transport.
