Sleigh rides through the elk herd on the national elk refuge are returning beginning December 14th. As usual, rides will depart from the Greater Yellowstone Visitor Center in north Jackson, but beyond that, they will look somewhat different. In response to COVID precautions, ticket transactions and reservation check-ins will be made outside the visitor center in a portable building, reservations are being recommended to minimize crowding and wait times – although walk-ins will still be honored, there will be no warm areas for gathering, so visitors should be prepared to stay in their cars or wait outside until shuttle boarding is available, and due to health concerns, Double H Bar will not provide blankets this year. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own. Of course, as is the case throughout the region, masks are required. The rides will be offered every day all winter from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm except on Christmas Day.
