The Lincoln County Sheriff’s office has revealed the body of a woman missing for the past four years was found last month on a property located near Etna. Upon investigation by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, Wyoming State Crime Lab, and the Lincoln County Coroner’s Office, the remains were positively identified as the remains of 43-year-old Joann Hakes. Hakes was last seen on January 3rd, 2015 near Thayne. As a result of subsequent investigations, agents of the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and the cooperation of the Idaho State Police and Chubbuck Police Department, a search warrant was executed at an apartment in Chubbuck, Idaho and 55-year-old Ronald Weerheim was arrested and charged with first degree felony murder, second degree murder and kidnapping. Weerheim is currently being held in the Bannock County, Idaho detentioncenter awaiting extradition.
