On Monday, a woman in her early 50s got lost in thick timber after taking two horses out for a day trip in the Dog Creek area of the Snake River Canyon.
She called her husband and reported that her GPS was leading her in the wrong direction. She had cell service, but with no headlamp and only a light jacket, she was unprepared to spend the night in the backcountry.
Her husband called and alerted Teton County Search and Rescue at about 730pm. TCSAR began coordinating with Lincoln County SAR and ultimately took the mission since the Teton County team would be able to reach the lost subject faster via Little Dog Creek. The woman said she would stay put until help arrived.
TCSAR volunteers responded to the trailhead and began hiking at 9:30 p.m. At about 12:15 AM, they reached the woman who was not injured. She was led to the trailhead about 4:30 a.m.
