Postcards are being sent out this week to Teton County residents, reminding them to complete their census forms. Households will receive this reminder postcard in the mail by May 9th. Currently, the response rate from Teton County is extremely low. As of April 27th, 44.8% of Wyoming households had self-responded either online, by phone or by mail. The highest response was from Laramie County with a response rate of 59%. Meanwhile, Teton County’s response rate was only 16.4%. Census results help determine how billions of dollars in federal funding flow into states each year. The 2020 Census will have a direct impact on all Wyoming communities because it helps provide funding for programs that assist children, seniors, families and everyone in between for the next decade. To date, over 79 million households nationwide have responded to the 2020 Census, pushing the national self-response rate to 53.7%.
