A group of eight people got more than they bargained for while on what was supposed to be a scenic float trip on the Snake River. According to Teton County Search and Rescue Chief Advisor Cody Lockhart, the tour which was guided by Jackson Hole Whitewater, came in contact with a large log-jam in the center of the river and surrounded by class two waves.  Lockhart says when the boat began taking on water, the guide successfully got all eight clients out of the boat and securely onto the log jam. However, as he worked to free the boat, it was kicked out of the entanglement and down river. That prevented the guide from returning to his clients to return them to shore. Lockhart says other float trip operators coming by tried unsuccessfully to reach and evacuate the stranded party. Search and Rescue was called about 5:30 pm and responded with two jet boats which easily accessed the people and returned them to a landing site on the Snake River Ranch. Lockhart says no injuries resulted from the incident.
