An announcement is anticipated soon reversing the decision to cancel this year’s rodeo in Jackson Hole. Teton County Health Officer Dr. Travis Riddell announced Friday that an exemption had been approved to allow the event.
“They have received an exemption from the 250-person limit so they can operate under some really well thought-out and well-planned guidelines and rules to allow up to 600 people on the rodeo grounds spread out across the six grandstand and bleacher areas that they have there.
Brandon Wilson of Jackson Hole Rodeo explains they would not have been able to cover the costs of running the rodeo with only 250 people in the stands without substantially raising the cost of the tickets. While there has been no word on this summer’s season under the new exemption yet, Wilson says “We feel that Jackson Hole Rodeo is an important part of Jackson’s summer tourism.”
