Scottish-born Sir Donald Runnicles was bestowed this recognition for his outstanding musical leadership here in the U.S. and abroad. The Queen’s Birthday Honours for 2020 are appointments by some of the sixteen Commonwealth realms of Queen Elizabeth II to various orders and honours to reward and highlight good works by citizens of those countries. The Birthday Honours are usually awarded as part of the Queen’s Official Birthday celebrations during the month of June, but were delayed until the Autumn because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The honours list, which included Runnicles, was released on 10 October 2020.
